Italian carmaker Maserati has launched the 2019 model of the Quattroporte luxury sedan in India. The updated car gets new colours, new wheel designs and more interior options, but still comes with only a diesel engine.
The 2019 Quattroporte also gets a redesigned gearshift lever which Maserati claims will offer a more intuitive shift pattern, shorter travel and improved operation. It now gives the driver the option to switch between auto and manual modes of the 8-speed ZF transmission by shifting the lever from right to left. There’s also a new ‘P’ button to put it in park.
Interior updates to the Maserati include optional full-grain Pieno Fiore leather in three colours and two new high-gloss interior veneers. There are also two new exterior colour options - Rosso Potente and Blu Nobile - along with two new 20- and 21-inch alloy designs.
Under the hood, the 2019 Maserati Quattroporte continues to be offered in India with a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine that is tuned for 275PS of power and 600Nm of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels. The Ferrari-built petrol V8-powered GTS variant is yet to be introduced in its 2019 iteration.
It is available in two variants: GranLusso starting at Rs 1.74 crore and the Gransport starting at Rs 1.79 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). This diesel-powered luxurious Italian rivals the Mercedes-Benz S350d and BMW 730Ld in terms of dimensions and power output.
